11:47 - 6.08.2026

August 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has endorsed the amendments to the regulatory framework in order to improve standards of ethical behavior and strengthen consumer protection in financial institutions.

By CBA Board’s decision from July 7, 2026, the amendments were made to the corporate governance standards and rules of operation of banks, insurers, investment companies, as well as payment organizations and electronic money institutions. According to the new requirements, an independent function (a separate structural unit or responsible person) should be established in financial institutions to handle customer complaints.

In addition, the scope of the rules of ethical conduct has been expanded and control mechanisms have been tightened in the field of reputational risk prevention, conflict of interest management, and ensuring honesty and fair treatment of clients.
The changes will take effect on September 1, 2026.
