July 30, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st half of 2026, 35 credit unions operating in Azerbaijan received 600,000 manats of net loss. For comparison: for Jan-Jun 2025, their net loss was 30,000 manats. Thus, the indicator increased by nearly 20 times.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, interest income of credit unions did not change and reached 1 million manats. Non-interest income also remained unchanged at the level of 200,000 manats.
At the same time, contributions to reserves for possible losses on assets doubled, from 500,000 to 1 million manats. At the same time, non-interest expenses decreased from 700,000 to 600,000 manats. As a result, despite the fact that operating profit remained at the level of 500,000 manats, growth in reserve contributions led the credit unions to the net loss.
As of the end of June 2026, credit unions’ overall assets amounted to 11.9 million manats (800,000 manats, or 6.3%, less year-on-year). The net loan portfolio declined from 10.9 million to 10.1 million manats, a drop of 7.3%.
The volume of cash and funds in correspondent accounts increased from 500,000 to 600,000 manats, and the volume of accrued interests remained at the level of 1 million manats.
