Azerbaijan's external debt is 18.6-fold higher than its strategic foreign exchange reserves

July 30, Fineko/abc.az. As of July 1, 2026, in the structure of Azerbaijan's external public debt, floating-rate obligations made up 49.4% and fixed-rate obligations - 50.6%.

As of this date, 35.7% of the external public debt portfolio was held by the Asian Development Bank, 30% by Eurobonds, 12.9% by the World Bank, and the remaining 21.4% by obligations held by the Islamic Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and other creditors.

As of July 1, country's strategic foreign exchange reserves (the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan) amounted to $85.8 billion (approx. 18.6-fold higher than the external public debt).
