August 5, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. Department of the Treasury has removed Iraq-based carrier Fly Baghdad and its associated aircraft from its Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) sanctions list. The airline was originally sanctioned in January 2024 over allegations of providing logistical support to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force (IRGC-QF).

The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) updated its counter-terrorism sanctions registry to lift restrictions on Fly Baghdad (also known as Iraq Express). Treasury officials noted that the administrative decision follows demonstrable changes in the airline's operational framework, rendering the sanction listing no longer warranted.

Although the measure primarily addresses Iraqi civil aviation, the delisting of an entity previously linked to Iranian security networks is particularly notable as Washington and Tehran engage in ongoing diplomatic discussions.
