June 25, Fineko/abc.az. According to Bloomberg News, citing a senior Iraqi official, Baghdad could consider leaving the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in the future if the cartel does not allocate a higher quota for Iraq's oil production.
ABC.AZ reports that the source explained that Iraq needs to expand its production capacity to compensate for the financial losses and revenue shortfalls caused by the decline in oil sales during the war with Iran. However, the official emphasized that Baghdad will remain a member of the organization for the time being. It is worth noting that the UAE recently decided to leave OPEC after years of tensions with the alliance's leader, Saudi Arabia, over production restrictions.
