June 25, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev has approved the law on financial leasing adopted by the Milli Majlis on May 26.

ABC.AZ reports that the document defines the legal basis for financial leasing activities, as well as the legal, organizational, and economic basis for regulation and control in this area, with the aim of developing, stimulating, and strengthening its role in economic growth.

The law defines the following terms: "purchase price", "reverse financial lease", "financial lease", "financial lease recipient", "financial lease activity", "financial lease agreement", "financial lease payments", "financial lease provider", "significant share", "seller", "total cost", and "good faith of the citizen".

Individuals who violate the law will be held accountable.

The law will take effect six months after its publication. Now, within 9 months, individuals engaged in leasing activities in the country (including those who have suspended their activities in accordance with regulatory acts) must bring their activities in line with the requirements of the law and apply to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan for inclusion in the relevant register.

During this period, individuals who do not comply with the requirements of the law must not enter into new financial lease agreements, must not extend existing leasing agreements, and must remove the words "financial lease," "financial leasing," "leasing," or phrases containing these words from their company names by taking appropriate measures in accordance with regulatory legal acts.
