June 1, Fineko/abc.az. After the fighting in Iran, the movement of oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz may never return to its pre-war level, CNBC reports.
ABC.AZ informs that according to experts, Western shipowners will avoid this route for fear of renewed fighting and the consequences of cooperation with Tehran. According to the forecast, traffic will reach only 60-70% of the pre-war level. At the same time, Chinese vessels will be able to sail freely, while Western ones will require separate agreements with Iran.
Any end to the conflict, in which Iran retains operational control of the strait, will lead to significantly lower traffic volumes. In this case, access is determined by policy, not freedom of navigation.
