May 13, Fineko/abc.az. In 2025, passenger traffic in the Baku metro decreased, but revenues increased.

ABC.AZ reports that last year, the metro transported 226.8 million passengers (1.4% less than in 2024). Passenger turnover reached 2.67 million passenger-kilometers (a drop of 1.6% year-on-year).

Along with this, earnings from passenger transportation in the subway increased. Thus, in 2025, income in this area amounted to 116.46 million manats (15.7% more than a year earlier).

For the last time, the Tariff Council increased the fare for the Baku Metro from 40 up to 50 gapiks from July 1, 2024 and up to 60 gapiks in 2025. The latest change was made by the Ministry of Digital Development & Transport.

Meanwhile, Baku Metro’s chairman Vusal Aslanov said earlier that train travel intervals will be reduced from 2025, and the number of trains on the line during peak hours will be increased up to 36 pairs. According to Aslanov, the metro is also working on digital solutions, artificial intelligence-based management and new payment systems.
