Khankendi to be one of key cities of Karabakh

May 13, Fineko/abc.az. Khankendi is to be developed as one of the key cities of Karabakh with the population of about 80,000 people.

ABC.AZ informs that Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative for Khankendi, Aghdere and Khojaly districts, Elchin Yusubov, made the relevant statement at the National Business Development Forum held in Khankendi.

He noted that the work on the general plan of the city is at the final stage.

According to Yusubov, the general plan is being developed with participation of foreign companies. One of the key directions is the concept of the "city of youth".

Yusubov stressed that special attention is paid to development of educational and social infrastructure in the city. In particular, significant funds have been allocated for Karabakh University, where creation of modern conditions for students and teachers is planned. Students and teaching staff will make up neary 12-15% of the city's population.

He added that in general, Khankendi will develop as a modern city with stable infrastructure and fast pace of project implementation.
