January 26, Fineko/abc.az. The U.S. officially withdrew from the World Health Organization on January 22, completing the procedure that the Donald Trump administration notified a year ago.
ABC.AZ informs that according to WHO, the country has not paid contributions for 2024-2025 in the amount of $260 million.
Washington said that organization's activities had caused significant economic damage to the U.S., while WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called the withdrawal of the U.S. a loss for the whole world and expressed a hope for a review of the decision.
The withdrawal of the U.S., which ensured nearly 18% of WHO's financing, could lead to a budget crisis for the organization.
